This morning in Spiritual Practices we wrote midrashes. Midrash is a new story remaking an old story; the ones I have heard of were using the Bible stories. My remake of the story of Moses and the Burning Bush was from the perspective of the fire and was sort of like the Rudolf the red- nose reindeer and the flame was always made fun of because it was never able to burn objects but then God gave the flame purpose through using the flame to catch Moses’ attention and everyone liked that flame again.
After that we went to attend an ethics class. In Ethics we were given an exercise where we had to defend a certain statement that we were given. We talked about why our beliefs are the way they are and where we get our knowledge from. After that, we talked about the difference between Truth and truth. This class was very interesting to me because I got to see the difference between belief and knowledge.
We were going to do a video scavenger hunt but it got rained out so instead we got a free time. This was a time to hang out with the group and get to bond. Some of the group got together and played Imagine If… it was fun and we got to have fun while getting to know each other.
Next we went to the Fan Free Clinic where we learned about their special programs and missions. The Fan Free Clinic is the only transgender clinic in the state of Virginia. Their mission is to address the broken parts of communities and individuals. They recently celebrated their 40th year of in and out patients. They specialize in many different programs and work to make a difference.
We ended the day with a talent show. I found out there are many different and unique talents that were hidden in many members of the program. All and all my experiences at Project Burning Bush have been unforgettable and will not be ending when we leave the campus of Union on Saturday. AND MY RAP WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
