The heat was blinding, in a sense. We stepped out of our respective homes to find the sun scorching the earth and the humidity making our Project Burning Bush shirts stick to our backs. After a quick word from our leaders we headed to Watts Hall to sit in on a summer Hebrew class, a unique experience since we were in a class with a dozen or more seminary students. We left hastily for a final walk-through of a worship service we were leading at noon. The experience was so awe-inspiring, all of us working to bring God to the entire seminary community, and to ourselves.

“The Gospel is like a lion. It doesn’t need to be protected. It needs to be turned loose.” This is a quote that is in our journals, and one that I feel is true. Today was a very eventful day. We started the day off with a trip over to the Labyrinth for our Spiritual Practice class. It was an amazing experience for me. The whole walk symbolized for me, God leading us in the right path throughout our lives.

“We are the seeds of the community that is and is to come.” This quote comes from Joy Crawford and we were introduced to it during our Breadmaking Activity. It seemed to sum up how the day went today and where our group is at this point. We began the activity with the most logical step, making dough. Suzanne Vinson led us in this process. Before today, I found this process about as holy as taking out the trash.
